Our little sanctuary is always striving to improve and ensure our animals get what they need. 2 of our rescued Savannah cats, Pandi and Betty are now I their twilight years.
We have decided to convert 2 of our aviaries into a retirement home for the old girls. As the structure is already in place, it just needs some minor alterations to make it suitable for the girls. Viewing windows, a cosy bed and lots of climbing platforms and ramps.
We are fund raising for this project with our £33 for 33 campaigns, see the shop section to support us. We hope to have this project completed by the early Summer, and the girls have just a few feet to travel to their new house.
Also in need of a new house is Sari the Burmese python.
A commonly kept species of snake, at 14’ long, our big girl needs a big house.
This is a very costly project, again, we have enclosures we can convert but to accommodate Sari, we need upgrades to our electrics, add a pool, and filter, this is all going to cost a lot.
Not the most popular resident! So we anticipate quite the challenge to raise the huge amount this project will cost.
**UPDATE**
Logistics and funding have delayed this project but by late Spring 2026 we should have a holding enclosure suitable for the dogs whilst we replace their bedroom.
Our winter project is to replace the wolf dogs indoor area.
Their current house is now over 30 years old, built by our founder, originally as a monkey house.
This indoor area has been home to Vervet monkeys, 2 species of Capuchin monkeys, Pumas, Lynx and Wolf dogs. The building has earnt it’s keep but now needs replacing.
With a redesign of the space, the area will provide a bigger area for the Wolf dogs to snooze in, as regulars will know, the Wolf dogs generally choose to relax in their house during the day!.
Whilst we don’t intend on putting a viewing window in as Rain likes some privacy, we do hope to add a camera and TV so our lovely visitors can see the dogs relaxing, without disturbing their privacy.
The project is estimated to cost around £6,000, so it is going to take some big fundraising.
Keep an eye out for a raffle for a hand knitted advent calendar, a sponsored run and calendars and tea towels available to purchase.
Our 19 Terrapins have moved from their old home by the entrance, to their new, purpose built, pond and spectacular water fall.
They love lying in the sunshine and relaxing on the side of pond.
Take a short strole to the top of our flying grounds to see how many you can count.
We’ve been having a bit of a move around in order to accommodate some new residents.
Jaffa, our Iguana, along with his pals, Bart & Coco the Marmosets, have moved over to their renovated enclosure.
They are settling in and Jaffa has discovered he can watch the world go by from the elevated window above the keeper door, whilst basking under the warmth of his heat lamp.
